I spent my whole life looking for what I ended up building myself.
La Smole is the obvious thing I'd been missing.
I've always bought swimsuits that didn't fit me. Triangles too wide, cups that gaped, cuts designed for bodies that weren't mine. I thought I was the problem.
It really started mid-April 2025. One morning, I woke up with the idea already fully formed in my head. It had been growing quietly for months, probably since the summer before. A coffee break at the office, my colleagues talking about their swimsuits, brands for bigger busts, tips on finding support without an underwire. I was nodding along without saying a word, because none of it applied to me. There simply wasn't an equivalent conversation for us.
That April morning, I got it: the problem was that in France, there was no swimwear brand actually designed for truly small busts. Not at entry level, not at premium, not at all. No one was talking about it because no one was doing it.
So I stopped looking. I started building. I learned to read a tech pack, to talk fabric weight with a patternmaker, to negotiate a production contract with a Portuguese workshop, to put together a business plan.
I spent nights comparing patterns, weekends testing fabrics, months tweaking cuts until they fell exactly right. What was supposed to be a swimsuit became a brand. What was supposed to be a frustration became a project. What was supposed to stay a question became an answer, for me first, and then for every girl who's ever told herself this isn't for me.
So I built it. For us, this time.
Daravy
I'm Daravy Ange, 28, corporate and M&A legal clerk by trade, Chinese and Khmer by birth, Parisian by path. By day, I work on M&A deals, shareholder agreements, fundraising rounds for startups. The rest of the time, I'm building LA SMOLE.
This double life isn't a coincidence, it's the brand's DNA.
My legal clerk side brings the rigor: structured contracts with the Portuguese workshop, INPI trademark protection, fabric traceability, certification compliance.
My creative side sets the direction: a precise product vision, a confident aesthetic, zero compromise on patternmaking and quality.
I wear an AA cup, and I can confirm that my whole life I've tried on swimsuits telling myself "this isn't for me".
LA SMOLE is the brand I would have wanted to find at 18, at 22, at 25. I built it at 28.
Small busts don't need to be corrected. They need to be seen.
designed for you
The difference between a swimsuit designed for small busts and a swimsuit adapted to small busts is exactly the same as the difference between a couture dress and a size 4 dress that's been taken in.
In one case, the cut is right. In the other, it's just shrunk.
Most swimwear brands start from a size 6 cup B pattern and scale down. The proportions stay wrong: the triangle is still too wide, the strap too far apart, the shaping calculated for a bust that isn't yours.
LA SMOLE does the opposite. Every Collection 01 pattern was built from scratch by our patternmaker, specifically for cups AA, A, B and C. Smaller triangle, tighter straps, clean back, rethought proportions.
The result: no padding, no push-up, no underwire, no fake effect. You get a cut that falls exactly right, that works with your body instead of compensating for it, and brings out what's already there.
my beliefs
no body positive.
I'm not here to lecture you about your body. I make swimsuits that fit you. If the fit is right, the speech becomes pointless.
fit first.
Every pattern is built for small busts, not scaled down from a standard size. It's the brand's only non-negotiable rule.
less is better.
Limited edition, recycled Italian fabric, Portuguese making, hand finishing. I'd rather release one perfect piece than ten average ones.
no greenwashing.
The fabrics are genuinely recycled and certified. The workshop is genuinely European. The numbers are verifiable. If I can't prove it, I don't say it.
Inclusion through exclusivity
Serving a specific niche instead of trying to please everyone. LA SMOLE doesn't want to be the brand for all women. It wants to be the brand for the girls no one dresses properly.
Legal rigor, creative eye
LA SMOLE is run by a corporate and M&A legal clerk who brings to the brand the same standards she applies to a corporate law file. Nothing is approximate: patterns built from scratch, airtight contracts, documented certifications, full traceability. Rigor isn't an argument, it's the method.
how less can be better.
Collection 01 is a limited edition: 250 swimsuits to launch the brand. Eight models, a tight color palette, the logic of a summer uniform rather than a seasonal catalog. No overproduction, no dead stock, no early sales to clear things out.
Everything is made in Portugal, in a workshop that has worked for years with European premium swimwear houses.
The fabrics are Italian, technical, recycled, OEKO-TEX and GRS certified. The cut holds up to chlorine, salt, UV. The finishing is done by hand on the embroidered pieces.
I'd rather produce 250 perfect pieces than 2,500 average ones.
It's slower, it's more expensive to make, it's less profitable at launch. But it's the only way to release a first collection I can personally stand behind.
fits you everywear
I hope you'll find what you love here, and if you do, tell me. It'll mean more to me than you think. Thank you for caring about this project, it really does matter. In short: LA SMOLE is swimwear for the girls who couldn't find any. Designed in France, made in Portugal. For small busts, no compromise.
